Founded by German, Scotch-Irish and English immigrants in the late 18th century, Concord, North Carolina is a town rooted in rich traditions of agriculture, commerce and community spirit. Once home to some of the Carolina’s most successful textile magnates and industrialists, Concord boasts an impressive array of residences, from modest family homes to sprawling mansions.
Today, Concord includes three registered historic districts: North Union, South Union and Edgewood. These distinct areas feature stately homes and churches of various historical eras, connected by a charming downtown retail center. The district’s sidewalks are nestled under a lush canopy of willow oaks - perfect for a leisurely stroll. Visitors can take in a wide variety of architectural styles from brightly painted Queen Anne Victorians, imposing Neo-Classical mansions, brick Italianate and Second Empire homes to Craftsman bungalows. These lovingly maintained homes reflect the personalities of their original builders, as well as their contemporary stewards, and serve as an ideal backdrop for a day’s photo walk. The Residents of Historic Concord welcome you to our treasured neighborhood and hope you’ll visit often! |
